Trustee Nominating & Election Schedule


Districts 3, 6 and 9 are up for election in 2019

District 3 - Carlisle, Columbia and Eaton townships in Lorain County
District 6 - Grafton Township in Lorain County; Litchfield, Liverpool and York townships in Medina County
District 9 - Chatham, Harrisville, Lafayette and Westfield townships in Medina County

Districts 1, 4 and 7 are up for election in 2020

District 1 - Ruggles Township in Ashland County; Clarksfield, New London and Wakeman townships in Huron County; and Brighton and Rochester townships and Rochester Village in Lorain County
District 4 - Huntington, Penfield and Wellington townships in Lorain County
District 7 - Clear Creek, Jackson, Orange, Sullivan and Troy townships in Ashland County

Districts 2, 5 and 8 are up for election in 2021

District 2 - Florence Township in Erie County; Camden, Henrietta, New Russia and Pittsfield townships in Lorain County
District 5 - LaGrange Township in Lorain County
District 8 - Homer and Spencer townships and Spencer Village in Medina County; Canaan and Congress townships in Wayne County


Per Article III, Section 2 of the cooperative's Code of Regulations, the qualifications for serving as an LMRE trustee are:
1)The person must be a Lorain-Medina Rural Electric member and receiving service from the cooperative at their primary residential abode within the particular district he/she is to represent.
2)A "member" includes the husband or wife of the person in whose name the membership is recorded. Either one, but not both, may be elected a trustee,provided that neither one shall be eligible to become or remain a trustee unless both shall meet all of the qualifications for serving as a trustee.
3)Neither the person, nor his or her spouse, may in any way be employed by or financially interested in a competing enterprise, or a business selling electric energy or supplies to the cooperative, or a business primarily engaged in selling electrical or plumbing appliances, fixtures or supplies to the members.
4)Neither the person nor his or her spouse may currently be nor previously have been an employee of the cooperative or any of its subsidiaries for five (5) years prior to being elected to the Board of Trustees. The person must have received electric service from the cooperative for at least one (1) year prior to being elected to the board of trustees.

According to the cooperative’s code of regulations, any member residing in the district may seek election to the board of trustees. If more than two members are nominated for the position of trustee, a district-wide election will be conducted by mail and/or electronic ballot and the two candidates receiving the highest number of votes shall be declared the official candidates for the annual meeting. No more than two candidates can appear on the annual meeting ballot. The district trustee candidates seeking election to the board of trustees will be chosen by the entire membership through an election conducted by mail and/or electronic ballot. The winners will be announced at the annual meeting July 16, 2019, at the Lorain County Fairgrounds. Petitions can be obtained 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday at the cooperative’s office.
