Cardinal Power Plant Tour

More than 30 members, employees, and Black River students toured the Cardinal Power Plant in Brilliant, Ohio. The trip included lunch at Froehlich's restaurant in Steubenville before the walking tour at Cardinal. Members took the opportunity to learn more about the facility that they, as Ohio electric co-op members, own. The students learned about the science behind the generation of electricity. 

LMRE sends lineman to help restore power following Hurricane Irma

Lorain-Medina Rural Electric Cooperative is sending four linemen and two trucks to assist southern Georgia electric cooperatives in restoring power following the devastating effects of Hurricane Irma. 

The four-man crew is expected to Wellington at about 5 a.m. Tuesday and will travel in a bucket truck and derrick-digger about 1,250 miles to assist the southern Georgia cooperatives. It has yet to be determined which electric cooperative they will be assisting. 

LMRE to host tour of power plant Sept. 13

Over the last 15-plus years, Buckeye Power, Lorain-Medina Rural Electric Cooperative’s wholesale power supplier, and the other electric cooperatives that own it, have invested more than $1 billion to upgrade the Cardinal Generating Station in Brilliant, Ohio, with environmental controls to meet today’s clean air standards.

community solar shines bright

Construction of Lorain-Medina Rural Electric Cooperative’s solar array wrapped up just in time for the annual meeting. Energized in early July, there are 228 panels soaking up rays behind LMRE’s office on West Road in Wellington Township. 
Subscriptions to the energy output of these panels were made available for the first time to members attending the annual meeting last month. Any member interested in purchasing a subscription to the output of these panels can pick up a contract from the cooperative office during business hours or get one from the energy services advisor.

LMRE debuts community solar program; incumbents re-elected to board



Members of Lorain-Medina Rural Electric can now purchase solar power from the cooperative’s new OurSolar® program which was introduced to members at their 81st annual meeting July 18 at the Lorain County Fairgrounds in Wellington.

LMRE mourns loss of Fred Alspach

We are mourning the loss today of Fred Alspach, who worked 36 years for Lorain-Medina Rural Electric Cooperative. He died tragically Wednesday morning, July 19, in a motorcycle accident in the Village of Wellington.

Co-op to introduce OurSolar on July 18

The 81st annual meeting of Lorain-Medina Rural Electric Cooperative will be held Tuesday, July 18, at the Lorain County Fairgrounds in Wellington.
The cooperative will be introducing its new OurSolar program. Presentations outlining the program will be given at 2 p.m. and 4 p.m.  

Outlet Shopping: A big draw for Burbank

Ohio Station Outlets near Burbank is a premiere shopping destination for northeast Ohio. Built in 1996 as the Buckeye Factory Shops, Ohio Station Outlets has been rebranded to attract a more diverse set of stores and to provide a pleasant experience for the customers. 
“We work hard to provide a unique, fun, and exciting experience for our shoppers,” said General Manager Trinity D’Andrea Elmiger. “We want to offer more than shopping.
